Lottery process at David Thomas King School
David Thomas King School will continue to have a lottery process in place for new resident attendance area students enrolling at the school for the 2024–25 school year. This will not impact current students who attend the school.
The school will not accept new registrations from families in the attendance area if the student is not a resident of Edmonton Public Schools. In most cases, a resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic.
Resident students who aren’t selected through the lottery process can attend the overflow designated school, Youngstown for grades K through 6 and Michael Phair for students in 7 through 9, a Division school with space in planned classes, or remain at their current school, if applicable.

New resident students in the attendance area who have a sibling returning to the school next year will get priority, but are not guaranteed to attend.

Parents can register starting on Thursday February 1st at 9:00am and the deadline is 4:00 pm on March 22nd, 2024 by submitting a registration package including:
- a completed, signed Student Registration form (Digital form can be found on step 3)
- legal proof of the student's name and age,
- and proof of address (see note below regarding accepted pieces)
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to accept Cell Phone Bills, Driver's license, Bank statement, Mutual funds or Retirement Saving Plans. We will however accept 2 of the following:
- Electricity bill
- Natural gas bill
- Property Tax Assessment from the City of Edmonton
- Mortgage document with proof of home insurance or
- Lease agreement with proof of tenant insurance
CURRENT DIVISION STUDENTS PRE-ENROL
You will need to pre-enrol on SchoolZone to tell us the school you’d like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment, which opens between February 1st and March 22nd for the 2024-2025 school year.
